History

In 2006, the bay area based nonprofit organization “Global Strategies for HIV Prevention”,  originated the concept to organize “Hope Walks” events. These family-oriented events were aimed at helping HIV-affected children in developing countries. Hope Walks partnered with organizations across the USA to organize such events.

In 2007, Sahaya International partnered with them to organize the first “Hope Walks Davis” event. Because of the success, we continued in subsequent years. When “Hope Walks” stopped organizing such events, we continued, and in 2011, decided to change the name to “Sahaya Walks”.

We are grateful to our many partner organizations that have assisted us with these consecutive events.

Together these events have raised nearly $120,000 for needy orphans and HIV-infected children in India.
